Taking a Break
To everyone who took the time to check this out, thank you. It’s been fun publishing my public library check outs, and even though I’ll be taking a break from it, I definitely won’t be taking a break from regularly checking out materials from my public library. Hope you do, too! Happy Reading, Watching and Listening!

Review: The Tattoo Artist by Jill Ciment (2005)
This is a fast read although it took a few chapters for me to become truly interested in the story. A New York woman and her husband, both artists, are abandoned on an island when looking to collect painted face masks for a museum. The tribe they meet changes their lives indefinitely.

His Top 5 List
Recently I wrote about how the BF and I traded book lists, and I gave you my list. Today. I’m giving you his. So far I’ve only read one, but I’m looking forward to the others. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov The Gates of the Alamo by Stephen Harrigan Dubliners by James Joyce The Chatham School Affair by Thomas H. Cook A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin Did I mention he went...

ON HOLD
BOOK: Apartment Therapy presents real homes, real people, hundreds of real design solutions. Moving and falling across this website happened too close to each other, and now I’m obsessed with finding new ways to decorate. Smart move with the book! DVD: Lovely & Amazing. I absolutely loved Friends with Money, and while it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I’m hoping for...

A Top 5 List
When I first started dating the BF, we thought it’d be fun to create a list of 5 books we thought the other person should read. This is right up my alley since I a) love making lists b) love book suggestions c) love learning what other people enjoy. I’m not saying this is my ALL-TIME TOP 5 list of books I love by any means. It’s simply a list of books I love for one reason or...

ON HOLD.
I’ve been waiting for some of these for what seems like forever, but it also makes it a little exciting whenever I have something new to pick up. 1. BOOK - The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Don’t know anything about this book except that my mom read it for book club and suggested it to me. And I see a lot of people reading it. 2. BOOK - The Order of Odd-Fish by James Kennedy. Saw this...

CHECKED OUT.
As of today, this is my list of stuff I need to read, watch and hear: 1. Her Fearful Symmetry by Audry Niffenegger, checked out for May’s book club. 2. Fearless by Taylor Swift. I just had to know what all the fuss was about in a very delayed fashion. 3. Pane e tulipani (Bread and Tulips). I’ve heard of this movie before, but never knew anything about it. 4. The Fame Monster by...

I'm back with bells on!
Checked out is back, and I’m excited to say it will be updated more regularly now that I have a job (or three; I kinda wish I was kidding), a new home and a revived dedication to the one job I love: being a librarian! Here’s what you have to look forward to: Beginning of week: CHECKED OUT, lists of materials I’ve currently checked out from my sweet public library. ...

Library Link of the Day →
If you’re a librarian, you might already know about this site, but I could not selfishly keep it to myself. Being someone who feels like I’m constantly trying to keep up with the ins-and-outs of libraries, this daily email does the work for me. Sometimes academic, sometimes social. Sometimes specifically for libraries, while other times for the public. I like having a link that keeps...

ON HOLD.
I cannot wait to pick up these items: Pope Joan. I started reading it for book club and was hooked. Unfortunately I didn’t start reading it fast enough, so it had to be returned. Happy I can get it again. Ani DiFranco: Red Letter Year. Just heard her interview on Sound Opinions and want to hear more! State of Play - Have heard great things about this movie! The Smiths because everyone...

Oh, the Holidays.
It’s amazing how this time of year always seems to get away from me. While happy to be working at the Crate & Barrel Outlet for seasonal work, it’s made my days longer, my feet achy and my weekends non-existent. BUT. I still am finding some time to swing by the library. Most recently I picked up: French Milk by Lucy Knisley Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross All Together Dead...
