BOOK: A IS FOR ALIBI by SUE GRAFTON (1983)
In the past I haven’t been much of a series reader, but within the last year, series have grown on me. Often when I visit the library I see books from The Alphabet Series, otherwise known as the Kinsey Millhone series, and it intrigued me. The last time I was at the library I was lucky enough to find the first book in the series, A is for Alibi.
Kinsey Millhone is a private investigator who must help Nikki, a woman who was sent to jail for eight years for the murder of her husband. But as the reader soon learns, her husband happened to have many women in his life, and Millhone sets out to find who the real killer was since she believes Nikki’s innocence.
The reader is then sent on a quest with the author where every character Millhone comes across is connected in one way or another. The investigation continues to probe into lives of past associates, lovers and immediate family. The surprise comes when the solving of the crime is only the beginning of the unraveling of what really is at stake.
Will definitely be picking up the next one, B is for Burglar, because as it is, I’m hooked.
