Review: The Tattoo Artist by Jill Ciment (2005)

This is a fast read although it took a few chapters for me to become truly interested in the story. A New York woman and her husband, both artists, are abandoned on an island when looking to collect painted face masks for a museum. The tribe they meet changes their lives indefinitely.

CD: LADY GAGA: THE FAME MONSTER (2009)
I’ll admit it took me awhile to pay any attention to Lady Gaga, but now that I have, I can’t get enough of her dance grooves and wicked lyrics. Ever since I saw that soldier re-make of her song Telephone, I have been listening to this cd non-stop. While I’m not sure what to say about the quality of it all with its poppiness, the truth is it’s super catchy and fun!
I’m not sure how long it will take me to get sick of this album, but I will say I find myself wanting to dance more, and that’s always a good thing in my book.

BOOK: MY ONE-YEAR EXPERIMENT TO WALK THE WALK OF THE QUEEN OF TALK: LIVING OPRAH by Robyn Okrant (2010)
My initial curiosity about this project was strong from the get go. How does one Live Oprah? What does that even entail? And while I was thinking it probably had the most to do with following her advice, I didn’t realize just how much there really was to follow.
Okrant takes this project seriously and delves deep into living her life according to Oprah from the TV program, websites, projects Oprah suggests and basically anything that comes with the “Oprah stamp” on it.
Each chapter is a month and there are breakdowns of how much she spends (time and money) and she lets the reader know exactly how she feels about each step. While it’s a trying year, what comes of it is something different than what’s expected. But isn’t that always the case?
